ABOUT ME

About Me

Hi! You can call me John (with an H).

I'm an Associate Professor of English at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY, where I teach creative writing, literature, and composition. I also work in curriculum and assessment design, and I serve on the college's AI Council, helping shape how we approach generative AI in the classroom.

I've been making things since I was very young — stories both invented and true, drawings of imaginary worlds and the characters who lived in them, and eventually music of my own. I completed a queer YA fantasy novel, queried agents, and shelved it after several rejections. A queer YA horror novel has been in progress ever since. Slowly. But still moving.

These days, most of my creative energy goes into AI-assisted production, which has opened up forms I couldn't have made alone. I work in a hybrid process: the writing, composition, art direction, and editorial decisions are mine, and generative tools handle the production I'd otherwise need a studio, a band, or an animation department for. Wherever the work is released, I disclose it as AI-assisted.

Current Projects

Sugarbush Road — my solo recording project. I write the lyrics, build and remix the melodies, produce and mix in Logic Pro and Suno Studio, and release the finished tracks.

Unichord Productions — my production banner for original animation and films. I write, develop, and design these videos under it, with more on the way.
